Green Uprising was created to build on the radical progressive momentum that emerged from the 2016 presidential election. We're in an historic moment of unprecedented crises and unstoppable resistance. People are standing up to demand transformative change like we haven't seen in generations. The future of humanity and our planet depends on this change.

We believe that it will take both social movements and political organizing  to create a society that puts people, planet and peace over profit. Green Uprising works to support candidates and movements dedicated to creating an America, and a world, that works for all of us.

Indigenous caucus as it was being created at the Salt Lake "Powering Up Green" annual meeting, July 2018.

Green Uprising is organized as a people-powered Political Action Committee (PAC) so that we can support both candidates in the electoral arena and movements in the streets. For candidates, we help generate grassroots support, shine a spotlight on their platforms, and assist with building skills for campaign teams and organizers. For social movements, we seek to build connections, generate additional support, and link the advocacy of candidates and elected officials to the work being done by organizers on the ground.

We seek to support and complement the work of existing Green Party institutions to expand the visibility, membership and infrastructure of the Party.

Because we don't accept donations from corporations or wealthy special interests, we rely on grassroots support to keep this work going. You can support this effort by donating to Green Uprising, signing up to volunteer, and signing up for our updates.

As a fairly new Green, and recently becoming membership director for the Massachusetts Green-Rainbow Party, I am most interested in learning from other states what strategies they use to expand their party base. I would hope we could generate some cross state thinking on this issue on this site. Any thoughts, please share. Let’s support each other in this necessary work.

It is heartbreaking that it is the “least of these” who are leading the fight against the most powerful, richest, most organized cartel of fascists on the planet. It is the children, octogenarians, the most marginalized and impoverished who are now putting themselves on the front lines to save us all.
