This is a transcript of Jill Stein's livestreamed Fireside Chat on November 13, 2018.
Hello, friends, rebels, welcome to the Fireside Chat, where we rise up as the empire doubles down with endless war, austerity, an assault on Mother Earth, democracy, humanity, and all the rest. Here we come together to stand strong for an America and a world that works for all of us.
It’s been a very interesting week - the midterms have finally happened and there's a lot to process here. So, we thought it would be really interesting to reflect on the midterms - what's new, what's not so new, and how do we develop an exit strategy from what's really a two-party tailspin that is taking us ever closer to the brink of extinction, whether we're talking endless war, austerity, the next meltdown of the economy, the impending climate catastrophe, which we're seeing now in full force on the West Coast with the worst fires in history: over forty-four people are known to be killed in the Northern California Camp Fire, two hundred and more people still missing in that fire, added to the record floods, extreme weather storms, etc. We've clearly heard from the United Nations: we have ten years to get it together on climate. But I don't know how much you heard about really intensive climate action during the midterms - practically nothing actually, and particularly not from the Republican Party and not from the Democratic Party's leadership either. So, that's why we're calling it a “two-party tailspin” which is propelling us towards extinction - to put it bluntly.Read more
This is a transcript of Jill Stein's speech at the Women's March on the Pentagon on October 21, 2018.
MC: A little controversial - for some - and the reason she's here and we invited her and she accepted our invitation is because she's been an anti-war activist since before most of you were born. So anyway, this is what her role is today. As an anti-war activist who is probably one of the few women in the public eye who actually has the balls to stand up against the military machine and tell it like it is. I'd like to introduce a friend of mine and a powerful person: Jill Stein. [cheering]Read more
From Jill Stein:
With Election Day coming up, thousands of Greens are working day and night to get out the vote for real leaders who put people, planet and peace over profit.
At this moment when a landslide majority of Americans want a new party, any Green breakthrough into state or federal office would hit the corrupt political establishment like an earthquake and give new hope to millions of people.
Nothing would demonstrate that the Green Party is the party we need like the living example of Green leaders in the halls of power, fighting for the causes we care so deeply about like healthcare and education as human rights, a Green New Deal, defending marginalized communities and so much more.
Here are 4 candidates who are surging towards the finish line - and your support could put them over the top!Read more
This is a transcript of Jill Stein's livestreamed Fireside Chat with guests Glenn Ross and Andy Ellis on October 9, 2018.
Hello friends, rebels, welcome to the Fireside Chat where we rise up as the empire doubles down - where we come together to resist endless war, austerity, the assault on democracy, on our communities, on Mother Earth, and humanity. And we stand together for the world we deserve, for an America and world that works for all of us - where we build a another kind of government, another kind of community, that puts people planet and peace over profit instead of the other way around.
Tonight we're very honored to have two guests with us, who I will just mention right now, and then we will come back to hear from them in particular. But we are going to hear from two community leaders who’ve been leading the charge in their community in Baltimore for ten, twenty years, even more, and who have recently entered into the electoral arena - running as candidates for the state assembly in Maryland, and they're running in districts in Baltimore.Read more
This is a transcript of Jill Stein's livestreamed speech at University of Massachusetts Boston on September 27, 2018.
Thank you. It’s really exciting to be here. I’m trying to remember back when the last time was that we had an active chapter here at the UMASS Boston Campus. I don’t actually remember - so this is very exciting, I think a sign of the times. Thank you, Jordan so much for making this happen, and thanks to all of you for coming out tonight.
Our theme tonight is demanding a Massachusetts that works for all of us: for working people, for immigrants, for kids, for elders, the disabled, for people of color, the LGBTQ community. We need a Massachusetts that works for all of us. And this is within our reach.
It is not rocket science to say that this is not working for all of us. And least of all for the younger generation, especially the younger generation of color or immigrants and students. Who have been basically in a free-for-all, victims of a free-for-all - an economy that is exploiting particularly young people. A whole economic and political system in which the vulnerable are exploited without restraint.Read more
This is a transcript of Jill Stein's livestreamed Fireside Chat on September 18, 2018.
Good evening friends, rebels, welcome to the Fireside Chat, where we rise up as the empire doubles down - and we come together to stand against endless war, austerity, the assault on Mother Earth, our humanity, our democracy and more, and we stand strong together for an America and world that works for all of us. We are also here to celebrate your acts of resistance and transformation which are the lifeblood of our movement as we fight for the greater good like our lives depend on it, because in fact they do.
Tonight for the first time I’m coming to you under the banner of Green Uprising - a new springboard, a new vehicle, a new network for powering up peaceful revolution, and for turning peaceful resistance in the last election to all-out peaceful rebellion in the next.
From Jill Stein:
After Governor Andrew Cuomo defeated challenger Cynthia Nixon in New York’s primary yesterday, there’s only one choice left for progressives in the New York Governor’s race: the Green Party’s Howie Hawkins.
Howie’s campaign is a can’t-miss opportunity to build a real politics of the people by lifting up one of the Green movement’s most compelling voices: a visionary union worker, former marine turned peace advocate, and lifelong activist whose tireless grassroots organizing is as impressive as his command of the issues.Read more
From Jill Stein:
Last year a Montana Democratic Party spokesperson told the media “The Montana Democratic Party welcomes all voices to participate in the Democratic process -- unlike the Montana GOP, which... has a record of trying to remove third-party candidates from the ballot.”
So when the Montana Green Party turned in enough signatures to qualify for the ballot this year, what do you think the Democrats did?
It may surprise you, but the Democrats’ actions were the exact opposite of their words. They immediately launched an all-out attack, bringing in big money international corporate law firm Perkins and Coie in an effort to throw the Greens off the ballot.
This is the same law firm that told the court in the DNC fraud class action lawsuit brought by Bernie Sanders supporters that the Democratic Party is a private organization with no obligation to follow its own rules about holding an impartial primary, and that the DNC could have chosen its candidate in a smoke-filled back room if they wanted.
After the Democrats’ lawyers complained about technical irregularities with a handful of the over 7,000 signatures verified by local election officials, a district judge ordered the Montana Green Party off the ballot. But they’re not done fighting yet!
On August 13th, the Montana Greens filed suit in federal court challenging the state’s overly demanding ballot access requirements as unconstitutional.
Their fightback has been inspiring, but it’s likely to be a hard legal fight and they will need help.
They have an opportunity to hire an attorney who has won victories for the right to access the ballot across the country in states like Arkansas, Oklahoma and Tennessee - but to do so, they need to raise $2,000 as soon as possible.Read more
From Jill Stein:
As we approach the 2018 midterm elections, humanity and the planet hang in the balance as never before - with endless war, climate chaos, massive racial and economic inequality, the growing nuclear arms race, the assault on refugees and more.
The good news, of course, is the inspired grassroots revolt against this crisis, a revolt against not only Donald Trump, but the whole bipartisan neoliberal system spreading injustice and violence the world over, paving the way for demagogues like Trump to seize power in the first place.
I'm writing today with great excitement to share with you a new way to power up this fight, our fight, for peaceful revolutionary change. I’m delighted to introduce Green Uprising, a new vehicle for action to help turn resistance from the last election into rebellion in the next!
Green Uprising brings unifying vision and concrete tools to support both social and political change that are critical for peaceful, just, green transformation.
To jumpstart the Green Uprising, I urge you to join me in supporting two powerhouse candidates poised to break through into Congress! These candidates are both in winnable one-on-one challenges against vulnerable establishment Democrats in poor, Latinx districts ready to break away from the failed status quo. Each successfully fought their way to a top-2 position in California’s primary, a historic first for Greens.
Vote Green in 2018!
